The Challenge

Students often face challenges with managing their revision and preparing effectively for GCSE and A-Level exams. With limited access to high-quality, structured resources and the pressure of achieving top grades, it can be overwhelming to find comprehensive support. Many struggle with finding relevant revision content, practice papers, and personalised tutoring.

Conceptualising: The product concept was unique, requiring the creation of all features from scratch. This involved developing a scalable architecture and ensuring that each feature provided significant value to the user.

Scalability: We needed to design the features that would not only meet current needs but also scale effectively as the user base grew.

User Value: It was crucial to ensure that the features we built were highly valuable to users, which required careful planning and execution.

The Solution

The Flash Learning app offers an all-in-one solution for students preparing for GCSE and A-Levels. It provides free access to a vast range of revision content, including over 12,000 flashcards with worked and video solutions. Students can choose their subject, exam board, and module to tailor their revision.

Additionally, the app offers 2024 predicted and practice exam papers for GCSE and A-Level Maths. By becoming a pro member, users can join daily group tuition sessions at 6pm, allowing them to engage with tutors and ask questions. The Flash Learning app delivers a comprehensive and supportive approach to boosting academic performance.

The Product

Flash Learning is built on a robust, scalable architecture, designed to ensure high performance and reliability as user demand grows. Each feature has been meticulously crafted to address specific user needs, providing significant value through modular design, which allows for seamless future enhancements. A user-centric approach, driven by extensive research and testing, ensures that the product not only meets current expectations but evolves to adapt to changing requirements, making it future-ready and highly adaptable.

“Developing an app requires revisions and adjustments I didn't foresee when we started, and Stakk has been extremely adaptable, which is a significant aspect of my startup. Stakk was the best company we could've picked because it's good to work with a team that is so accommodating and doesn't charge extra for revisions.”
Flawless from start to finish.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the common questions which may help you in your journey.

Mobile app development costs in the UK range from £10,000 to £300,000. A basic app costs £10,000-£40,000, a moderately complex app costs £40,000-£100,000, and a feature-rich enterprise app costs £100,000-£300,000+.

Building a mobile app takes 3-9 months on average. Simple apps require 2-4 months, medium complexity apps take 4-6 months, and complex enterprise applications need 6-12+ months from initial concept to App Store launch.

Choose native app development (Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android) for maximum performance, complex features, and best user experience. Choose cross-platform development (Flutter, React Native) to save 30-40% on costs and reduce time-to-market while maintaining good performance for most business apps.

Mobile app development in the UK includes business analysis, UI/UX design, iOS and Android development, backend development, API integration, quality assurance testing, App Store submission, deployment, and ongoing maintenance support.

iOS app development in the UK costs between £15,000 and £250,000. A simple iOS app costs £15,000-£45,000, a medium complexity app costs £45,000-£120,000, and a complex enterprise iOS app costs £120,000-£250,000+.

You need both iOS and Android apps if you want to reach the maximum UK audience (iOS holds 51% market share, Android 48%). Start with both platforms if budget allows, or prioritize based on your target demographic—iOS for affluent users aged 25-45, Android for broader demographics and global reach.

The mobile app development process consists of 6 key phases: Discovery & Planning (2-4 weeks), UI/UX Design (3-6 weeks), Development (8-20 weeks), Quality Assurance Testing (2-4 weeks), App Store Deployment (1-2 weeks), and ongoing Maintenance & Support.
